Updates: We have been working on Jazz projects this week. The students are planning a Jazz fest as a culmination of Bud, Not Buddy. The story took place during the Great Depression and several characters in the book were in a jazz band. The students are researching different types of Jazz and Jazz musicians and singers. They will also be forming their own bands and making posters telling about their band and Jazz Fest. They are currently working on letters and invitations for the festival and we look forward to parents and grandparents coming in to learn about Jazz and to listen to some wonderful, soulful music. Your invitations should be coming soon! Field Trip: We will be going to Children’s Theater on Friday, February 29th to see Robin Hood. The permission slips went home yesterday so we will need them back as soon as possible. If you need another permission slip please let me know and I will make you a new copy.
Testing: Standardized testing starts on Monday, March 3rd. We will be testing everyday next week except Wednesday, due to Mass. We will also be testing on Monday, March 10th. If a student should be absent during testing the make up test day will be Tuesday, March 4th. The fifth and sixth graders will need to get lots of sleep and eat a good breakfast with protein during the testing week. The school will provide water bottles, snacks, and peppermint for all students taking the test. The fourth graders will need to bring a water bottle to school because they will not be allowed to walk around the building during testing times. They will be with Mrs. Wilder in the Art room working on a Kentucky project and their Imaginary islands. They can also bring a book to read because Mrs. Wilder will be having silent reading time each morning.
Homework: The students received their homework on Tuesday. Sorry for the delay. Packets are usually put together on Friday but the Snow Day interrupted our routine. I cut back the number of assignments this week since they only have two days to do the work. If your child needs more time, please send a note in on Thursday and they can turn in the Homework on Friday.
I hope you have a great week! Mrs. Angela Fehr |
