August 27, 2008 Dear Parents,
The children are getting into the swing of being back in
school. They have been working hard in
the classroom. We have presented the
Five Great Lessons, which set the groundwork for the all the lessons we teach
in the classroom. Friday we celebrated
the closing of the Olympic Games with the school. The seventh and eighth grade and MII
organized the Prince of Peace Olympics. The children enjoyed competing with and cheering for their schoolmates.
Thanks to all the parents who attended last Thursday's meet
the teacher evening. It was good to see
and hear from everyone! At the meeting
parents suggested that we e-mail the parent letter, along with posting it
on-line. If I don't already have your
e-mail address please send me a quick e-mail at

Unless you specify that you need a hard copy,
this will be the last paper version of our parent letter.
Friday the second and third grade students will take their
pre-tests for spelling. Their words will
come home in their homework folder so they can practice at home. Some ways to practice are helping your child
make flashcards, asking your child to write the words as you give a practice
test, asking your child to spell the words aloud, helping your child put the
words in alphabetical order, asking your child to write a story using all the
spelling words, or asking your child to ask you the words (you spell them
aloud). The first spelling test will be
next Thursday (September 11).
There is no school on Monday, for the Labor Day
Holiday. Please help your child to
remember his or her water bottle on Tuesday.
Libby and Tommy Roebker, Joey Eckler, and Elena Alcantara have signed up for Show and Tell this Friday.
Have a great week, Kate and Sara
