Dear Parents,
This week we have been celebrating Catholic Schools Week. On Monday we enjoyed game day. Tuesday we wore our Prince of Peace spirit wear. Every class presented a P.E. game in the gym. After the presentations the seventh and eighth graders played a game of volleyball against the teachers. Today we had mass, celebrating the fact that we are a
Catholic
School. Some children celebrated mass at the Cathedral with the other Catholic Schools in the Diocese of Covington.
Monday we also had a wonderful presentation by Andrew Niehaus about his experiences living in
China. He brought in many interesting articles, spoke to the children in Chinese, and shared milk candy with us. Each child was given something Chinese to take home as a souvenir. It was an enlightening afternoon for us and we appreciate the opportunity to learn about other cultures in such a fun way.
Tomorrow the children are invited to bring a pillow, blanket, or stuffed animal in to school, as well as a pair of pajamas. They are to come to school in their uniforms, but in the afternoon they will have the opportunity to change into their pajamas for silent reading time. We will have spelling tests following silent reading.
Friday is student appreciation day. The children are allowed to come out of uniform.
Due to the weather we have spent many recesses indoors recently. If you have an old board game or card game that you would be willing to donate to the indoor recess cabinet the children would appreciate the variety.
Please help your child remember to bring his or her water bottle to school.
Our new website is up and running. It really looks nice! In addition to the paper copy you receive we will be posting our parent letters under the MI category from now on.
In honor of Catholic Schools Week we will have a light amount of homework this week. If the Daily Work packet from this week has not been completed you child will have that to finish and return to his/her homeroom teacher on Monday. The spelling lists will also be in the red homework folder. Any completed works (usually placed on the left hand pocket) are yours to keep.
We are running low on snack fund money. Please send in $10 for each child to cover snack for the rest of the year.
Have a delightful week,
Beth and Kate
