AFFILIATION: One of 32 elementary schools in the Diocese of Covington, Catholic in outlook and practice. Presently, approximately 50% of our students are from other faith traditions. Prince of Peace is accredited through the Non-public Schools Commission of Kentucky. Sponsoring parishes are Mother of God, St. John, Sts. Boniface and James, and St. Ann.
FACILITIES: Four standard academic classrooms, 1 kindergarten room, 3 elementary Montessori rooms, 1 Junior High Montessori room, small group rooms, library, technology center, cafeteria, auditorium and multi-purpose space for physical education, office space, and parking lot. We are on the premises of the Catholic Church of St. John the Evangelist.
SCHOOL HOURS: Cafeteria opens at 7:00 A.M. Breakfast is served from 7:30 – 7:50, 7:50 classes begin. Dismissal is at 2:30.
ENROLLMENT (07-08): 116 students in levels K – 8, small classes, diverse student population
FACULTY: 6 teachers and 3 classroom aides in the Traditional program, 4 Montessori teachers and 3 Montessori aides, Physical Education teacher, music teacher, art teachers, technology coordinator, librarian, principal, receptionist, a Title I teacher, and volunteer tutors during school hours.
LIBRARY: Over 6000 volumes and many audio/visual items, resource materials and manipulatives are available. The Accelerated Reader program is available to students. There is internet accessibility in the technology center and in all classrooms.
CAFETERIA: Federal breakfast and hot lunch program available daily.
CURRICULUM: Comprehensive standard academic program is available as well as the approved Montessori program. Computers and other technology are used in all student rooms as well as the computer lab. There is instruction in physical education, music and art. There are frequent visits to a variety of cultural enrichment opportunities.
CO-CURRICULUM: Conservation Enrichment, Post Spelling Bee, National Geography Bee, various Art Contests, Academic Competition, Junior High Diocesan Competition, a variety of field trips, Project Business, Boy Scouts, Girls Club, sports and after school enrichment programs such as Bowling, Art Club, Photography Club. Circus Skills Group, Everyday Etiquette, Book club, Keyboarding and more.
SACRAMENTS: Weekly Mass, Sacramental preparation, First Communion in parish church
SPECIAL SERVICES: Professional counselor weekly, Title I Reading Teacher here daily as well as other daily tutors and resource teachers on site, educational testing available if warranted through the local school district
SPORTS: Parent Association coordinates the available sports activities according to interest – currently basketball and volleyball
AFTER-SCHOOL: Children’s Inc. conducts an excellent after-school care program on our campus. Financial assistance is available for those who qualify.
ORGANIZATIONS: School Board, Parent Association, Finance Committee, Building and Grounds Committee
CURRENT TUITION: Parishioners of the 4 sponsoring parishes make arrangements through the parishes. (07-08) Non-parishioners is $3,300. Montessori is $4,200. Kindergarten is $3,300. Yearly school fee of $150 (K-8) for all. Tuition assistance is available for those who qualify. STAFF:
